GC Foster join Police, Kingston in Junior Cup semis

GC Foster College joined Police SC in the semi-final of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Junior Cup championship after a clinical 116-run win over Zone B rivals St Catherine CC at GC Foster College on Saturday.

Scores: GC Foster 185 (35 overs); St Catherine CC 69 (20 overs)

The win puts GC Foster on 10 points, second behind Police (10 points), based on an inferior head-to-head record. The lawmen had already completed their preliminary fixtures.

St Catherine CC finished at the base of the standings with four points.

In the other Zone B clash, hosts St Elizabeth CA (seven points) beat Jamaica Defence Force (six points) by 67 runs at the Manley Horne Park.

Scores: St Elizabeth 192 (48 overs); Jamaica Defence Force 125 (32.1 overs)

In Zone A, Kingston CC beat University of the West Indies (UWI) by 43 in the battle for top place at the Mona Bowl.

Scores: Kingston 204-7 (50 overs); UWI 161 (44.1 overs).

The win took the Zone winners Kingston to 13 points, while UWI finished second on 12.

Melbourne (six points) finished third after a comprehensive 160-run win over Kensington CC (three points) at Kensington Park.

Scores: Melbourne 270-5 (50 overs); Kensington 110 (32 overs).

Kingston & St Andrew, who had already completed their fixtures, finished at the foot of the Zone with one point.

In the two-day semi-final, which starts on Saturday, Kingston will oppose GC Foster and Police will welcome the challenge of UWI.
