REGGAE singer Chris Martin set the mood for love throughout his almost 30-minute performance earlier this morning on international night two of Reggae Sumfest.

Dressed in red and grey, Martin was the ‘voice of every man’ inside Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, as he sang for the ladies. The ladies screamed uncontrollably and the men flashed their lighters to songs like ‘Take My Wings’, ‘Paper Loving’, ‘Real Fren’, and ‘Cheater’s Prayer’.

The mood for love heightened even further as the singer wowed the audience with renditions of John Holt’s ‘If I Were a Carpenter’ and Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’.

The singer shifted musical gears a few minutes before his set ended, focusing on the issue of child molestation.

“Recently I read the most disturbing news where children and babies as young as 18 months were raped in Jamaica and I cried.

“Hence came the lyrics to the following song. I am a father and if a man ever touch mi daughter…” Martin said, before churning out the lyrics to his new song ‘Killer Inside’.

The singer made his exit shortly after, but came back on stage seconds later after the audience demanded an encore.

Martin could easily be considered one of the better performers in the three-day festival.
