I am the beast, says a confident Blake
KNGSTON, Jamaica – With the men’s 100m final to get underway at 3:50pm, reigning world champion Yohan Blake has broken his silence to the media.
After his semifinal race, where he ran 9.85, Blake declared “I am the beast, so I have to go back and stay focused for the final.”
Asafa Powell expressed regret at slowing down during his semifinal which saw him lose second spot to Churundy Martina of the Netherlands. “I underestimated them and slowed down too early,” he said.
Powell made it through to the final as one of the fastest losers.
American Justin Gatlin remains confident about his chances of winning after taking his semifinal race.
“I went out there to devastate and dominate the first half of the race and come through at the end. I just wanted to put something out there.”
