Wet gets wilder
WET N Wild, the biggest event on the Smirnoff Dream weekend, was held at the Kool Runnings Water Park in Negril on Sunday.
From as early as noon, partygoers were seen congregating outside the venue for the 2:00 pm event. By 4:00 pm the patrons revelled to the music inside the park and by 6:00 pm the gates had to be closed.
Luckily, Dream promoters anticipated that there would be an overflow of patrons so a new party Miami Beach J’Ouvert was created to satisfy those persons. This event boasted paint, soca and wet party vibes.
Wet n Wild has always been a signature event with two parties and two dance floors in one venue.
The event began with early juggling from Renegade disco, which moved through the years like it was child’s play. From Montell Jordan’s This Is How We Do It to Rob Base’s It Takes Two to Kartel’s Nah Go No Weh, Renegade covered all the bases and got a good vibe going in the park.
Between spurts from water guns, bazookas and treks down the water slides, patrons were dancing up a storm, unperturbed by the lingering showers.
Special guest emcee the King of the Dancehall Beenie Man, steered the selections and proceedings as Third Dimension played.
Beenie Man dropped a few of his songs including Dweet Again and the Summer iI Here.
A brief intermission to the music came as the 100m Olympic final was shown live for the patrons. As Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake crossed the finish line, the euphoria was doubled and the shouts and screams got even louder. Every one was in a good mood. Beenie Man instructed the DJ’s to play the Black Eyed Peas I Gotta Feeling and LMFAO’s Sexy and I know It, which went down well with the audience.
