Farah comments on his Bolt doing ‘the Mobot’
LONDON, England — Comments from gold medallist Moe FARAH following the men’s 5000m final at the Olympic Stadium today.
On comparisons with Usain BOLT (JAM) and whether he is also a legend:
“No, I’m not a legend. I’ve known him for a long time. I did some sit-ups (following the race) to match his press-ups.”
On BOLT doing the ‘Mobot’ after the win:
“Did you see that? That was awesome. To be shown respect (by Bolt), the man broke a world record and was doing the ‘Mobot’ (in honour of FARAH).”
On his gold medal win:
“There’s no way to describe it. You imagine being Olympic champion once and then it happens twice. Often we don’t get it right, but we got this one right. But once I won my first gold, I really wanted another.”
On competing when he wife is heavily pregnant with twins:
“I was a little bit worried. As a parent you want to be there for your kids. I was worried for my wife, I really want two medals for them.”
“I got twins, so once I got one (medal), you can’t leave the other one out.”
On the last lap:
“I wasn’t thinking about Dejan (Gerbremeskel, Ethiopia), I was thinking that no-one was going to pass me. It was just getting louder and louder, really like the Emirates (Arsenal football club’s home ground in North London). I only knew I had won it two or three yards from the line.”
On his celebrations:
“I’ll spend time with my family. I don’t know how to celebrate, I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
On his future:
“There’s a lot of stuff to be achieved. I want to do more track and, maybe, move up to marathon. My next race is in Birmingham and then the Great North Run (in Newcastle).”
