I am from mars says Blake, He is crazy says Bolt
LONDON, England — Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake said he was from mars and his fellow Jamaican sprinters were from mars.
Speaking to reporters after their record breaking performance in the sprint relays Blake said, “Basically, we are not human, we dropped from space like Mr Bean. Mr Bean is not a normal guy, he makes jokes. We are not normal guys. We are from space, I am from Mars.”
His teammate and the man who beat him into second place in both sprintsm Usain Bolt had a few barbs to throw.
“Yohan is crazy. If he keeps talking like that, someone is going to put him in a straight jacket one day.”
On his plans for celebrating:
“I don’t know if a party is in the making, but I’m going to go out.”
On whether he would change to 400m:
“I don’t want to do the 400m training – I like my lunch.”
On the American team who got the silver medal:
“When I saw Yohan go past Tyson, I knew it was over because I knew Bailey couldn’t outrun me on the straight.”
On keeping the baton after the race:
“I wanted the baton because I wanted everyone to sign it, but they told me they needed it again or something. It was a rule. But I said ‘you need to give me that baton.'”
On whether 5000m gold medallist Mo Farah could play football for Arsenal:
“I don’t think Mo has the body to play football – he is too small.”
Fellow sprinters Nesta Carter and Michael frater also weighed in.
Nesta Carter:
On breaking the world record for the third time:
“This one is the most important because this year is Jamaica’s 50th anniversary and here in London we have a lot of Jamaicans. It was no different to the previous two records, we did a very good job.”
On losing teammate Asafa Powell to injury:
“I want to give a big shout-out to Asafa – he is a training partner and a good friend. Running with Asafa I know we would maybe have got an even faster time.”
Michael Frater:
On Usain Bolt’S final leg:
“There was no way anyone was going to beat Usain. I knew once he had the stick, it was over. I knew we had to break the world record if we were to beat the USA.”
On the other teams in the final:
“I don’t think any of these guys went out there to lose this race tonight. It was about determination.”
