Jamaican team comments of world record win
LONDON, England – Comments from gold medallists Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt following the men’s 4x100m final at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday.
Nesta Carter
“We got a lot of practice this year so I was expecting a fast time, and 36.84 is a fast time.”
Michael Frater
On the race:
“We have a huge following in the stands, there are lots of Jamaicans here. We knew that the US would run a fast race. We are obviously delighted with the world record. It’s an awesome feeling, there is nothing bigger than this. I would like to thank my family and friends, it’s a wonderful feeling.”
Yohan BLAKE
On the race:
“We ran as a team and we handled the pressure pretty well. For me, two silvers and a gold medal is a wonderful feeling. Usain BOLT has been motivating me all along – it has been great.”
Usain BOLT
On the race:
“It’s always a beautiful feeling to end off like this. We did it last year in the world championships – for me it is a wonderful feeling. The team came out and gave their all – I knew a world record was possible.”
On whether he will compete at Rio 2016:
“I’ve thought about it, I think it is going to be very hard. Yohan (BLAKE) is coming through and I’m sure a lot of the other young guys are coming up, so I will see what happens in four years.”
On what he wanted to achieve at London 2012:
“This was my goal. I’ve done that so right now I’m going to sit down and think about it. But I’m going to the city tonight to celebrate.”
