DEFENDING champions Scotiabank ‘A’ defeated WISYNCO ‘A’ 52-16 as the 2012 Business House Netball association (BHNA) Senior ‘A’ League continued at the Leila Robinson Courts, Independence Park last Tuesday.

The bankers despite having a commanding lead at half-time were awarded the match as WISYNCO were not able to resume for the third quarter due to illness of one of their players.

WISYNCO had only started with five players during the first two quarters, and after one player got ill, they could not continue, as the rules of the sport states that the minimum of five players should be on court to play the game.

Scotiabank ‘A’ led 28-8 at the end of the first quarter, and by the half-time break were in a commanding 52-16 lead. For the bankers, Marsha Murphy netted 31 goals from 37 attempts, while Sateva Taylor had five goals from 12 efforts. Denise Brown scored 11 goals from 19 attempts and Karen Thompson five goals from 12 efforts for the losers.

Meanwhile, in another Senior ‘A’ League match played last Saturday, WISYNCO ‘A’ also forfeited their game to Jamaica Broilers, losing 38-16. They started with five players and failed to resume for the third quarter after the half-time break ended. A player fell ill and WISYNCO ‘A’ could not continue the match which was awarded to Broilers.

In Senior ‘B’ League action on Saturday, Sagicor Life Jamaica defeated National Housing Trust ‘A’ 53-41 with Lorraine Lewis scoring 46 goals from 61 attempts for the winners, while Jodi Ann French netted 32 goals from 41 attempts for the losers.

Scotiabank ‘B’ registered their second win by gaining a close 36-34 win over National Commercial Bank (NCB). The bankers led 9-7, 19-17 (half-time) and 28-22 before come out close winners. Tanisha Hibbert scored 32 goals for the winners, while Roxanne Haughton netted 24 from 36 and Patricia Reid with 18 from 22 efforts for the losers.

National Housing Trust ‘A’ chalked up their first win by outscoring Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) 44-39. Crystal Grant scored 27 goals from 29 attempts and Jodi Ann Ffrench with 14 from 17 efforts for the winners, while Karen Reid scored 27 goals from 39 attempts and Trudy-Ann Dawson with 11 from 16 for the losers.

Jamaica Public Service (JPS) got past Digicel Jamaica 32-27 with Michelle Morris scoring 21 goals from 33 attempts with Taunderia Williams getting nine from 17 tries for the winners. Chantelle McLaren scored 24 goals from 35 efforts for the losers.

In an Intermediate ‘A’ League match, Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) played to an exciting 24-24 draw with Guardian Life.
