The 24-year-old Trinidadian who made his test debut in June this year has been named with three other shortlisted nominees — New Zealand’s Doug Bracewell, Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal, and Australia’s James Pattinson.
In July, Narine claimed a career best haul of 5-27 to bowl the West Indies to a 20-run victory over New Zealand in the fifth and final one-day international at Warner Park.
To qualify for the emerging player of the year award, a player must be under the age of 26 at the start of the observation period and have played fewer than five Tests, 10 ODIs or five T20Is at the start of the voting period.
