Eagles, Rowes for Wray & Nephew skittles final
DEFENDING champions Eagles Strikers and Rowe’s Strikers will clash in the Premier League final of the Jamaica Skittles Federation Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Competition at Bourbon House 133 Windward Road today.
In week’s last semi-finals at Mystixs Sports Bar, Eagles Strikers, who only lost one match throughout the competition, ran roughshod over Waltham All Stars, 6-1.
The Bejon’s Sports Bar team’s success came through Clinton ‘Fly Up’ Thompson who beat Rupert Bernard, 1880-410, while Everald ‘Slicer’ McPherson stopped Milton Smith, 590-0.
Clifford Willis outplayed Chris Green, 490-0, and Orville Mighty outclassed Milton Scotchman, 1120-720 .
Robert Mcken defeated Donovan Ashman, 700-480, and Dean Jones dismissed Romain Constable, 2020-0. Rowe’s Strikers had to dig deep to stave off the challenge of their perrenial rivals for a 6-4 win.
After taking a 2-0 lead due to victories by Lenville Pottinger and Alton Young, Rowe’s Strikers fell behind 4-2 after Fitzroy Blair benifitted from a sinkers blunder by Durant ‘Busha’ Davis to win, 1000-370.
Mark Prendergast beat Karyl Walker, 1490-400, Phillip Johnson defeated Colin Chandia, 1310-900, and Winston ‘Wimpy’ Lyew stopped Raval Montague, 1610-980.
Rowe’s captain Garfield ‘Milligram’ Samuels started his team’s revival by playing a captain’s knock to defeat Sydney Carrington, 1520-1430. Clifford ‘Shakes’ Campbell then upset Keith ‘Colterer’ Barrett, 1160-910, to level the scores.
William Morris beat Steve Thompson, 410-0, and Carlo Dennis guided Rowe’s strikers into the final after an 800-760 victory over Nehemiah Henry.
Mister C ‘B’ will meet Mystix in the final of the major league.
The Spanish Town based Mister C chalked up their first victory of the season after beating Olympic Strikers, 6-3.
After both teams shared the first six matches, Oneil Patten stopped Fred Cooper, 610-410, skipper Clifton Hewitt edged Dalton Blake, 860-650, and Winston Harvey closed it out by beating Patrick Wallace, 1000-270.
The Dip were no match for Mystix, who outclassed them, 6-2.
The winners of the Premier League will pocket $80,000 and the trophy, while the Major League champions will collect $50,000.
