LIME ‘SKOOL AID’ assists over 30,000 students
Now three years running, LIME’s ‘Skool Aid’ continues to bring waves of overwhelming support to help thousands of Jamaicans offset back-to-school expenses. Last Saturday, the LIME team transformed the Jam World showground in Portmore, St. Catherine and offered much support in a variety of areas to in excess of some 30,000 people.
Aptly dubbed a back-to-school ‘quencher’, droves of students were able to benefit from free health and dental checks, immunisations and haircuts for boys just in time for the re-opening of school this week.
Scores of LIME colleagues volunteered in the day’s effort from helping students in the fun zone to aiding in the distribution of thousands of LIME Skool Aid bags that were handed out.
Ten lucky students were randomly selected to take home $10,000 scholarships vouchers from LIME for those at the primary level and Lenovo netbook computers for high school students. Top GSAT Scholars Chevaun Campbell and Catherine Douse were also presented with computers for their achievements.
Patrons were also treated to amazing value discounts and specials on phones, laptops and Internet packages. However, some of the big highlights of the day were the fun that the children had in the LIME petting zones, amusement park, having their faces painted and Storyland, which featured local celebrities.
According to Managing Director for Jamaica and the Cayman, Garfield Sinclair; “We are tremendously pleased with the turnout at this year’s event. Each year, we continue to give back to the community who supports our business in a very meaningful way.”
“We know parents are having a hard time finding the resources to satisfy the many back to school needs of their children and as such, thorough Skool Aid , we aim to provide an outlet for them to access even a few of their necessities free of cost” he continued.
The day’s fanfare concluded with fireworks and scintillating performances from artistes such as Aidonia, QQ, Kevin Downswell, JCDC Festival winners and many others.
