ANYONE can be a philanthropist if their heart is in the right place, as shown in the Frank Coraci-directed film, Here Comes The Boom, starring Kevin James and Salma Hayek.

The film, which premieres at Carib 5 on October 9, tells the story of Scott Voss -— a high school biology teacher (Kevin James), who seeks to become a successful mixed martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money to prevent extra-curricular activities from being axed at his cash-strapped school.

Throughout the film, Voss frequently undergoes excruciating pain and embarrassment to fulfil his endeavour.

By mere coincidence, the Wisynco Group Limited came across the movie trailer for Here Comes The Boom and realised that not only does it bear the title of the brand Boom Energy Drink, but it also uses humour and emotional appeal to communicate a message that is in-sync with their mission statement “improving the lives of our people”.

Using the title and feel of the movie as inspiration, Wisynco has decided to deepen their relationship with José Marti Technical High School. The school, located near the headquarters of the group, has been under our patronage for over 12 years — a relationship that was initiated by one of our founders, the late Sam Mahfood.

The Group acknowledges the importance of giving back to the society and will continue to do their part in contributing positively to the preservation of the Jamaican people by demonstrating through this their brands.

Boom Energy Drink, along with associate partners Domino’s Pizza, CB Chicken and Lithographic Printers will sponsor the premiere of Here Comes the Boom and will turn over 100 per cent of the profit to the development of the school’s extracurricular activity programme. Tickets for the premiere will cost $2,000.
