Headed by impressive two-time winning filly Alison and the equally impressive but without-a-win colt Perfect Neighbour, the Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) eighth running of the $2,950,000 Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy highlight feature, could turn into an exceptionally tough Graded Stakes race among native-bred two-year-olds at Caymanas Park today.

The first of three premier events for native-bred two-year-olds, Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy launches the $11.7 million Supreme Ventures Triple Crown Series that has attracted a knotty field of 10 starters going 1,200 metres.

Down as the highlight of a competitive 12-race card that has also included the None Such Sprint Trophy (gr. I), the Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy is the penultimate race of the day that is set to go off at approximately 4:40 pm. First post is at 11:40 am.

Six of the 10 starters are winners with two without wins and two debutantes. Of the winners, Alison in her last run looked the most compelling while among the non-winners Perfect Neighbour the most challenging.

Alison, a bay filly by Traditional out of Déjà vu (Schism) bred and owned by Gladstone Bell and trained by Philip Feanny, has won twice form three starts. A six-length winner in the mud on last and with the weather still uncertain, Alison, going 100 metres farther, could again go all the way again ridden by Aaron ‘Ice Man’ Chatrie.

Besides Perfect Neighbour, there are three other colts in Hover Craft, Uncle Taf and Border Line and the speedy Country Train filly to make the Cash Pot line-up on one of the most competitive juvenile races in recent years.

There is Country Train, an Image Maker dark bay filly, who has won two of her four races but seemed not to have enjoyed her last run in the mud and had to settle for fourth spot. That run, however, might have been an aberration and having been refreshed by her owner/trainer Harry Parsard, she could return more purposeful and even go one better in the hands of Richard Mitchell, who was aboard in her opening race when she went down to Alison.

Perfect Neighbour, prepared for racing by champion and leading trainer Wayne DaCosta, is yet to win a race, but with the distance increased, so too will be his chances. Bred on both sides to get today’s distance and beyond, the son of Natural Selection out of Desperatehousewife (Ghost Ransom) and bred by YS (1955) Ltd, was well drilled for his third outing. Having looked improved in his exercise gallops, may just carry that work into the event and get his winning career on the go with champion jockey Dick Cardenas returning to the saddle in place of jockey Leo Miller should be a plus.

In addition to Alison those who could really test the resilience of Perfect Neighbour include stablemate Hover Craft and Uncle Taf a winner on debut.

Hover Craft failed to justify his 1-9 billing on debut and finished a floundering five lengths third going 1,100 metres ridden by Cardenas. A bay gelding by He’stherealthing out of Royal Pizzaz (Royal Minister) bred by Mark & Susan Wates, Hover Craft —- owned by Elizabeth DaCosta — returned exactly two week later to win going 1,000 metres straight.
