Safety council tours JCF facility
NATIONAL Road Safety Council (NRSC) executives, accompanied by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Unit, went on a tour of the crash site facility located at the Police Traffic Headquarters on Elletson Road in St Andrew.
The NRSC team comprised: Dr Lucien Jones, vice chairman; Earl Jarrett, general manager of the Jamaica National Building Society and NRSC member; and Paula Fletcher, executive director.
The delegation were also treated to a demonstration of the police unit’s capabilities.
The JCF team explained the use of the Crush Deformation Jig, a scientific equipment which allows the unit to map the damage profile of crashed motor vehicles by measuring the depth of a dent or crush at each point on vehicles; as well as the Vericom 3000, a device which is also used to determine the speed at which a vehicle was travelling before it crashed.
