Maureen Webber appointed ECJ commissioner

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Maureen Webber has been appointed as Nominated Commissioner on the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ).

Her appointment, which became effective January 1, 2026, was carried out by Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen on the advice of the Leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding.

Webber succeeds Wensworth Skeffery, who retired from the commission on December 31, 2025. She joins the other Nominated Commissioner representing the Leader of the Opposition, Dr Dayton Campbell.

The Electoral Commission comprises nine members. There are: four Selected (Independent) Commissioners, four Nominated Commissioners (two representing the Prime Minister and two representing the Leader of the Opposition) and the Director of Elections.
