MICO students receives Gore Scholarship
Seon Hunt (second right), first year student of The Mico University College’s Pre-University Men’s Programme (PUMP) was selected to receive the James F Gore Scholarship to pursue his course of study in industrial technology. The cheque for $250,000 was handed over to Hunt on November 2 at Gore Development Limited’s Kingston offices by Christopher Gore (second left), representing the company. Also participating in the handing over are Professor Claude Packer (right), president of The Mico and Ruthven Ottey (left) also representing Gore. The PUMP project admits young men who would not normally qualify for a university-level education, placing those with at least three CSEC or GCE O-Level passes in a one-year programme which prepares them to qualify for a Mico four-year degree programme of their choice.
