Dallas star Larry Hagman passes away

Dallas star Larry Hagman has died at the age of 81. The actor, who was famed for playing JR Ewing on the hit show, died at a Dallas hospital last Friday after complications with his recent battle with throat cancer. He is survived by wife Maj, who he married in 1952. In 2008, Maj was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Hagman returned to Dallas to reprise his role as cunning villain JR in the show’s reboot, which started airing in June of this year. “Larry was back in his beloved Dallas, re-enacting the iconic role he loved most,” the star’s family said in a statement.

“Larry’s family and close friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday. When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. ‘It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.”

His co-star Linda Gray, who played his on-screen wife Sue Ellen Ewing, was at his bedside when he died at 4.20 pm, her agent Jeffrey Lane has stated. Lane added that Patrick Duffy, who played his brother Bobby, was also at Hagman’s bedside at Medical City Dallas Hospital. “They had been friends for 35 years and they had worked together for many years, so obviously it is devastating,” Lane told The Sun.

From awkward teen to America’s next style icon

Looking every bit as poised and elegant as her mother, the long-limbed First Daughter has taken the awkward out of adolescence with ease. In the weeks since election night, the emerging styles of the Obama daughters, and especially Malia, has taken centre stage — the 14-year-old blossoming from the President’s wide-eyed ‘baby’ into a self-assured young woman who has inherited her mother’s confidence, bold fashion sense and looks. Wearing a shiny blue full skirt from ASOS with a neon pink Zara belt, and J Crew flats, Malia proved she has inherited her mother’s classic but bold sensibility on election night — seamlessly following in her well-heeled footsteps. “The torch has been passed,” said the designer Gregory Parkinson, who sent out a press release after a recent sighting of the White House’s resident teenager. Lucky magazine’s executive fashion director, Alexis Bryan Morgan, told USA Today: “I’m hard pressed to think of anyone, period, who had such great style potential at 14. She has all the elements that make a great fashionista. It’s really exceptional.”

Well styled: Recent appearances throughout Washington, DC have proven Malia can certainly hold her own in the style stakes.

Turning into the perfect little gentlemen

She is a style icon and it seems Gwen Stefani is keen to teach her two sons the ways of the fashion world early on. They may be just six and four years old but Kingston and Zuma Rossdale looked remarkably stylish to celebrate Thanksgiving last Thursday. The youngsters wore matching blue and white striped blazers, white shirts and blue bow ties for a meal with their famous parents.

Kingston, who is the elder, sported shorts in the same pattern as his jacket, with little dog motifs on them, while Zuma opted for jeans. Gwen, her two adorable boys and husband Gavin Rossdale looked like the picture-perfect family. They were making their way to Gwen’s parents’ house in Los Angeles for the holiday.
