High drama at Courtleigh Auditorium
THERE was high drama at Keneea Linton’s holiday collection unveiling at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston, St Andrew, on Tuesday night.
The event was dubbed Lady in Red.
For openers, the lights inside venue were dimmed and the two-time Essence cover girl Althea Laing appeared in silhouette.
Laing would electrify her audience as she glided down the runway, showcasing Linton’s red chantilly lace pencil skirt silk jacket, complete with a dramatic floor length cape.
Nearly three decades after winning the Miss Jamaica Fashion Model title and making Jamaicans proud when her face appeared on Essence’s cover, Laing has not missed a beat and showed the youngsters, just how it is done.
Linton would save more ammunition for the finale as ebony beauty and Miss Jamaica World 1978, the evergreen Joan McDonald would appear at the top of the stage with her signature hand-on-hip pose, wearing a one-shoulder red gown with lace detail. She two delighted those present as she showed off the creation using the sweeping train like a matador tempting his bull.
Buttressed between these two icons of Jamaican style and beauty, Linton’s 20-piece collection, predominantly in red with splashes on black, went over well with her audience.
In a post-show interview, an excited Linton spoke glowingly of her two guest models.
“I chose them for the class and style they represented in their heyday and still do today,” said Linton.
