OFFICIALS of the Arnett Gardens Football Club were due to hold a meeting yesterday evening to decide on their next move following the resignation of Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis as head coach, effective the end of November.

Davis confirmed with the Jamaica Observer hours before the meeting that it was his intention to officially submit his resignation last night.

“I’m about to,” Davis said.

According to Observer sources, Arnett Gardens’ 0-2 loss to Highgate United “was the straw that broke the camel’s back and Davis informed his superiors he was calling it a day.”

Ironically, the man tipped to replace Davis is Calvin Lewis, who resigned from Highgate earlier this season. Davis, 50, in his third season at the club after taking over in 2010, currently has led them to fifth in the league on 21 points, but it is understood that he is unhappy with the commitment of the players, as well as with other internal issues.

The former national striker will be heading home to St James, and sources say he is set to coach a Confederation team in the parish which has been courting him for some time.

Meanwhile, if Lewis is given the job, he will be no stranger to the Arnett set-up, having previous had a coaching stint there.
