Rum Punch marred by Tommy Lee, Bounty feud
Great music, intoxicating drinks and lyrical blows dominated the JB Rum Punch party on Sunday.
The event, held at Liguanea Club in New Kingston, attracted hundreds of patrons who not only sipped mixed beverages but saw headline artiste Tommy Lee Sparta live up to his controversial reputation.
Taking the stage minutes after 11:00 pm, the tattooed deejay was fuming from ‘boos’ he received at an earlier party.
“Mi know some a unoo nuh wah si mi rise but anyhow mi nuh rise mek mi tell unoo dis,” he said before spitting out the lyrics to his hit songs Bay Badness and Dem no Bad.
The crowd roared, showing their appreciation as he dished out more hardcore tunes. He then focused on the female fans by ‘singjaying’ the songs Senorita and Mechanic.
The deejay struck a wrong note when he hit out against Bounty Killer whom he claimed was behind the poor reception he got at his previous engagement.
After shouting expletives, Tommy Lee was warned by Rum Punch organisers about his profanity for which he apologised. Just before leaving the stage, he reeled off another round of curse words.
Above the deafening screams came Bounty Killer’s voice. Flocked by members of his Alliance entourage including Cham, Bounty Killer ignited the venue with songs like War fi God.
Earlier, sound system selectors ZJ Liquid, Tony Matterhorn, Chris Dymond, the Coppershot Disco and Kingston All Stars kept the crowd entertained with the latest dancehall and hip hop hits.
