No increase in chicken price for the Christmas season – JB
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Broilers Group (JB) has reported that they will not be increasing the price of chicken meat for the Christmas season.
Ian Persaud, senior vice president at JB, said that the company recognises the strain consumers are currently facing and as such has made a decision to keep chicken price steady.
“Surely there have been strong movements in the exchange rates and electricity, this has been happening over the last few months, however the company is trying not to pass on any significant changes in prices on to the consumer,” Persaud told the Observer.
“Cost increases are there but we are working to ensure there are no price movements for the consumers for the holiday period, we have made a firm decision not to pass on any price increase to the consumer for this holiday period,” he added.
Persaud said that the Jamaica Broilers Group, which produces the Best Dressed Chicken brand, would continue to monitor fluctuating rates and see how best major cost increases can be avoided.
