VOX Pop: St James Parish Council first year in office
THE ruling People’s National Party (PNP) took control of the St James Parish Council last year March following the 2012 Local Government Elections.
Observer West photographer Alan Lewin took to the streets of Montego Bay one year later to get the views of the people on the performance of the administration during its first 12 months in office.
Below are some of the responses:
Kay Clarke, customer service representative:
“They haven’t achieved anything. There is no improvement, just pure talk.”
Sabrina Anderson, customer service representative:
“They are trying their best. But they are promising people things and not fulfilling them.”
Patricia Clarke, secretary:
“They are doing a good job. They have provided water in some communities and have carried out repairs on several roads.”
Sandra O’Hara, self employed:
“They are doing a good job . They are fixing roads, they have brought back MoBay Nite Out and Montego Bay is much cleaner.”
Latoya Lewis, teacher:
“Not much changes have been made since the new parish council took office. Roads are still in deplorable conditions, drains are in need of cleaning and there are piles of garbage in some places. Generally speaking, the promises made by the representatives of the People’s National Party before they took office have not been fulfilled. They have simply not performed.”
