My Kingston – Ryan Reid
Senior Manager
Proven Wealth Limited
What are your most distinct memories of Kingston?
Going to Enter the Dojo for karate and spending my Friday evenings devouring a Shakey’s pizza. I was definitely a foodie from back then.
Where in Kingston can
we find you when you want to chill?
Chill spots for me are where my friends are. You will usually find me at the Mahogany Tree Bar (Devon House), the Mayfair pub or the beach.
What would you do if you were mayor of Kingston for a day?
Not much can be accomplished in a day. However, I would co-ordinate with the Transport Authority and the Police Traffic Division to implement a “one-strike” system aimed at reckless/dangerous drivers and illegal transport operators.
What is your beverage of choice?
Appleton V/X, no chaser necessary!
What’s currently playing in your car?
Showbiz Riddim by Chimney Records.
What was the last bit of music you listened to that you really enjoyed?
I’m different by 2 Chainz.
Share a few places in your travel black book.
Cozumel, Mexico — the island is
very scenic and the people are infectiously pleasant.
Denshaw, UK — the lush greenery and rural culture create a glaring contrast to modern London town.
New York City — Bright lights, fast movements and delish steaks.
Which places would you recommend as must-visit locations for a first-time visitor to Kingston?
Gloria’s in Port Royal (the brown stew fish is to die for), Fiction lounge for a great party vibe, and the Bob Marley Museum.
What cologne are you splashing?
Gucci by Gucci.
What projects are you currently working on?
Working directly with my CEO and the rest of the team to ensure we bring investment products that are innovative in structure, clinical in management, indubitable in performance, and effectively distributed with service as the underlying mindset.

Beyond Performance: How Great Organizations Build Ultimate Competitive Advantage by Scott Keller. This is an interesting read that speaks to the creation of a culture of continuous change that helps organisations to sustain competitive advantage in an ever-changing world.
Who is your business inspiration?
There are many inspirational business leaders locally and globally of large companies. I have been privileged, however, to interact with many leaders of small and medium enterprises. Many of these individuals have it quite difficult but they are immensely creative, dedicated to their organisations and resolute to succeed even in a very tight economy. Most of them are overlooked until they get to that next tier of “big” business leaders. I salute them.
What is your life philosophy?
Stay passionate, stay confident and, above all, stay humble.
