Japanese equals World Junior 100m record
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A Japanese teen has equalled the World Junior 100m world record set by Trinidad and Tobago’s Darrel Brown a decade ago.
Yoshihide Kiryu ran 10.01 seconds at the Miko Oda Memorial meet in Hiroshima, Japan today.
The performance, which is to be ratified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), was run in the heats. Kiryu then ran a wind-assisted 10.03 seconds in the final.
Kiryu is also the World Youth record holder after running 10.21 last October and then 10.19 a month later.
