Lerone Clarke, T&T’s Thompson among six out of JII meet
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica- Jamaicans Lerone Clarke and Richard Phillips are among six athletes who have been withdrawn from Saturday’s Jamaica International Invitational (JII) meeting at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Donald Quarrie, Athlete Liaison for the meet told the Observer earlier today that four of the athletes have cited injuries while one, shot putter Cory Martin, has cited a family emergency for his absence.
Clarke, the Commonwealth Games and Pan-American Games 100m champion and Trinidad’s 2008 Olympic Games silver medallist Richard Thompson have withdrawn from the men’s 100m with US-based Jacques Harvey a late addition.
Sprint hurdler Richard Phillips, a semi-finalist in the London Olympics is out of the men’s 110m hurdles and American Ginnie Crawford has pulled out of the women’s 100m hurdles.
Jamaican Olympic Games 4x400m relay bronze medallist Shereefa Lloyd is also out of the 400m.
