Hylton, used-car reps seeking solution
JAMAICA Used-Car Dealers Association (JUCDA) executives and Anthony Hylton, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, are in the process of working on an amicable solution to the issue of year discrepancy that has been plaguing the sector.
According to an Auto source, the meeting was held at the ministry’s New Kingston office on Tuesday.
Lynvalle Hamilton, JUCDA president, confirmed that the meeting took place but declined to give details.
“The meeting was in the best interest of the consumers and we’re working feverishly to deal with the problem,” was all Hamilton was willing to say.
In recent times, the government and used-car dealers have been at odds with the age discrepancy in several imported vehicles. The majority of motor vehicles from Singapore are at the centre of the problem.
Efforts made to contact the Minister Hylton were unsuccessful.
