Heavy rains cause flooding in Portland
PORT ANTONIO, Portland — Heavy rains affecting the island has caused flooding in sections of Portland, forcing motorist to seek alternatives routes due to flooded streets and affecting the operations of schools and businesses.
Among the flooded areas were the Cenotaph Square and West Palm Avenue, in the vicinity of CC Bakery, where the Bog River overflowed its banks and forced vehicles to be diverted through Free School, Halls Avenue, Nuthall Road, Rice Piece Road and Boundbrook.
The road in the vicinity of the Jamaica Public Service and Coronation Bakery was also flooded, and so was the motor vehicle examination depot, while there were land slippages along the North Coast Highway.
