Three J’cans to run in Rome Diamond League
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three Jamaicans led by Usain Bolt will compete at the Rome Diamond League meet on Thursday.
Bolt, six-time Olympic champion, will run the men’s 100m along with countryman Jacques Harvey, who has a season’s best of 10.17 seconds.
Bolt’s season best is 10.09 seconds, clocked in his only race of the season at the Cayman Invitational last month. The pedestrian run by the world record-holder’s standards came after he suffered a slight hamstring injury during training.
Kerron Stewart is the third Jamaican who will compete at fifth meet of the Diamond League series.
Stewart, the 100m silver medallist from the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, will run the longer sprint event where she took bronze at the same Games.
However, she will find the going tough when she lines up against Olympic and three-time World Champion Allyson Felix.
The meet is expected to get underway at 1:00pm Jamaican time.
