Asafa runs at Ostrava Golden League Thursday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former world record-holder Asafa Powell will compete at the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting in the Czech Republic tomorrow Thursday, June 27.
Powell is coming off a disappointing seventh-place finish in the 100 metres at the National Senior Trials last weekend.
The sprinter who has more than 80 sub-10 second clockings, has suffered multiple injuries, the latest being some weeks ago when he was forced to pull up at a local meet.
With his seventh-place finish, Powell did not qualify for the country’s World Championship team in August for the individual event or the relay pool.
Ristananna Tracey, the new 400m hurdles national champion, will compete against home girl and early World champs favourite, Zuzana Hejnova at the meet.
