Fans Flow to TEN Cricket during Windies vs India
CRICKET fans enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to watch the West Indies challenge India and eventually celebrate their victory over that team in the Celkon Tri-Nation Cricket Series.
Fans quickly discovered Flow’s addition of TEN Cricket (Channel 705) to its channel line-up last weekend, and made it one of the top most viewed channels on the Flow network on Sunday, as the West Indies battled the ICC Champions Trophy winners.
“We were confident that cricket fans would welcome the addition of this channel as television broadcasts of cricket in Jamaica have been limited for some time,” said Donovan White, vice-president marketing and sales for Columbus Communications Jamaica Limited, operators of the Flow brand.
“The fact that the viewership was so high confirms the love for the sport is alive and well with West Indian supporters, while demonstrating the power of social media as we used only our Twitter and Facebook channels to promote this new network.”
Flow’s Advertising Intelligence (AI) Report, the first digitally based media intelligence report available in Jamaica, revealed that from just before mid-day and the close of India’s innings, TEN Cricket was the most watched channel on the Flow network, commanding the number spot.
While the West Indies were at the crease for the afternoon session, TEN Cricket rated number two for viewership, second only to the broadcast of the Confederation Cup Football match on CVM TV.
“With access to the diverse programming content on TEN Cricket, we are confident this will help the sport of cricket regain some of the popularity lost over the past several years, here in Jamaica. Additionally, we are certain the spirit of the West Indies team will be positively impacted knowing they have the full support of their fans at home and abroad every time they step on the field of play,” said White.
TEN Cricket is a 24/7 cricket channel with programming that includes live and repeat broadcasts of matches of major Tests, ODIs and T20s played by teams representing the West Indies, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Programming on the channel also includes feature series that give viewers insights into other aspects of the sport, including player profiles, detailed analysis from expert commentators, profiles of cricket venues around the world and more.
White has announced a special introductory offer for cricket fans extending a special free view period of one month that will expire on July 31, 2013.
“With this free view period, our customers will never miss a minute of the action in the Celkom Cup One-Day International series, and will also enjoy the matches played during Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies later this month,” he said.
