Gay clocks 9.79 to win Lausanne 100m, Asafa second
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The United States’ Tyson Gay ran a fast 9.79 seconds to win the men’s 100m in Thursday’s Diamond’s League meet in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Former world record holder, Asafa Powell was second in 9.88 seconds, while Michael Rogers from the US ran a season’s best 9.96 for third.
Jamaica’s Nickel Ashmeade finished in 5th place in 10.05 seconds, while Kemar Bailey-Cole also of Jamaica was a close sixth with the same time.
