MONTEGO BAY, St James — Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Senior Championships 100m gold medallist Sherri-Ann Brooks and Olympic Games relay silver medallist Samantha Henry Robinson could be added to the Jamaican team to compete in individual events at next month’s 14th IAAF World Championships in Moscow.

With the suspension of Sherone Simpson, who was second in both the 100m and 200m at the JAAA National Senior Trials, two spots have become available.

Additionally, Patricia Hall, who was third in the 400m and who would have moved up in the 200m as well, will focus on the longer race in Moscow, it is understood.

Brooks, a former Commonwealth Games 100m winner, who was fourth at the Trials, will now join Trials champion Kerron Stewart, Schillonie Calvert and Diamond League champion Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce as the Jamaicans in the women’s 100m in Moscow.

Hall was third in the 400m to book her automatic spot, and she would have moved up to third in the 200m, but Jamaica Observer sources are saying she will fore-go the shorter race, making way for Henry-Robinson, who had placed fifth in the 200m in 23.29 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce had won the 200m ahead of Simpson with Anniesha McLaughlin third, completing an MVP clean sweep with Hall fourth.

The team is expected to be named on July 31, two days after the deadline for athletes to make the standards to be selected for the team.
