Putting Pressure on crime in USVI
Arise in violent crime throughout the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) has prompted singer Pressure Busspipe to stage a peace concert in his native St Thomas.
“I organised the show because of the violence plaguing the Virgin Islands, and also because I was a shooting victim myself about 18 months ago,” the singer told Splash.
The free event is scheduled for August 31 at Austin ‘Babe’ Monsanto Crown Bay Centre.
Pressure Busspipe will headline the show, which features reggae acts from the four territories (St Thomas, St John, St Croix and Water Island) that comprise the USVI.
The TravelVI.com website has issued a safety advisory for USVI citizens and visitors, in light of the recent spike in criminal activity.
It notes that most of the crimes are committed in St Thomas.
Pressure Busspipe is best known in Jamaica for the 2008 hit song, Love and Affection.
