REBEL Soulz recording artiste Koddy is on the verge of a Jamaican breakthrough with the song Peace. The single is recorded on the label’s 6 East Riddim.

The Japanese singer has gradually made a name in Jamaica since joining Rebel Soulz in 2010. Peace seems to have done the trick for the diminutive performer.

“We are pleased with the feedback we have been getting for the 6 East Riddim. A lot of people identify with the project and Koddy has one of the outstanding singles on it,” says Richard Mason, CEO of Rebel Soulz.

The 6 East Riddim also has songs by established singers Lukie D and Tony Curtis, as well as up-and-comers Mason, Villa Dutch and Beego Blood.

Koddy’s career began in her hometown of Fukuoka in 1999. She started performing at local nightclubs and in 2005 moved to Tokyo, where there is a vibrant reggae scene.

Koddy first gained recognition with the song A-Dako-Da, produced by Japan’s Tela-C. She followed-up with 2010’s Dance Floor by Hase-T, another Japanese producer.

Two years ago, she released Beautiful Day, which featured Japanese artiste Moomin.
