Perez, Baloy out for Panama vs Jamaica
PANAMA CITY, Panama — Panama will be without stop striker Blas Perez and defender and captain Felipe Baloy for their CONCACAF World Cup qualifying match against Jamaica at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium here tonight.
Both players will miss the crucial match, scheduled for 9:00pm, due to yellow card accumulation.
But the Reggae Boyz need not celebrate too early as the Panamanians have the depth within their 24-man squad to field efficient replacements.
On their front-line they have the wily Gabriel Torres, who scored five goals in the recently-concluded CONCACAF Gold Cup where his country finished runner-up to the USA.
Jamaica, too, will be missing an important player due to card suspension in central defender Adrian Mariappa, who picked up a red card in Jamaica’s last World Cup qualifying match against Honduras on June 11.
Mariappa, who is in Panama, is expected to make his return against Costa Rica in Jamaica on Tuesday.
