Orijin makers enters third Carib market
Bare Nutrition Co Ltd has entered a third Caribbean market — Grenada — with its Orijin juices and says it is working on gaining certification to export to the US, Canada, and Europe.
The expansion was announced late last week by the Jamaican company which said that the initial response from the spice island was very encouraging.
A news release from the Mark McConnell-led company quoted Lenworth Gordon of Real Value Supermarket in Grenada as saying “So far so good,” after the first day of sales.
The addition of Grenada comes just under a year and a half after the company launched Orijin juices to the Jamaican market and the Cayman Islands.
“Based on our sampling, customer feedback was great on those products,” Glen Merren of Hurley’s Supermarket in the Cayman Islands was reported as saying.
Sandy Castrojas, also of Hurley’s Supermarket, agreed. “The product is of good quality. We did not get one bad review,” Castrojas said.
According to McConnell, Bare Nutrition CEO, the company has been receiving a lot of requests via its Facebook and Twitter pages for the products in Trinidad.
“Trinidadian students come to the University of the West Indies, Mona and get a chance to taste the products and now they want them back in Trinidad,” McConnell said. “We’re hopeful that our prospects in Trinidad will pan out soon.”
The company says its Orijin products are made 100 per cent from juices and are available in three flavours — Orange, Grapefruit and Pineapple.
“We aim to bring a healthier juice alternative to the Jamaican and now the Caribbean market,” said McConnell. “Our products are never made from concentrate, which means that they are as close to the fruit as you can get, that’s the goal.”
He encouraged consumers to always look at the ingredients of the products that they eat and drink. “You need to know what you are putting into your body. Orijin juice products contain only juice,” he said.
Bare Nutrition said that its export plan includes deeper penetration of the Caribbean market.
