Bouncing with JJ Wizzle
PRODUCER/engineer JJ Wizzle has partnered with Tarique Taylor and Jamar ‘Ratigan’ Kelly on the Brixton Bounce ‘riddim’.
The beat features a number of tracks including Mad Cobra’s Di Baddest, Hustle by Konshens, Stamina by Elephant Man, Nuh Fraid by Ratigan, Bono G and Gloc; Gal Dem Love Me by Voicemail, Mad Dem by Raine Seville, and Dilly Dolly by Munga.
Wizzle, whose real name is Paul Stephenson, is a disc jockey at Portmore radio station Suncity 104.9 FM.
He recently spoke to this column about the Brixton Bounce.
“The concept behind this project was basically teamwork; Portmore’s secret talents coming together to form a new label, Brixton Music Group. Brixton Bounce is our introduction to the world.”
The 27-year-old Portmore resident has been producing music for eight years. His previous credits include Running Away by Gyptian, Dart To Them Heart by I Wayne (featured on I Wayne’s Book of Life album), and Jamaican Gangnam Style by Mega Banton, Gloc and Singer J. He has also collaborated with British Rhythm and Blues singer Keisha White, grime rapper Wiley, I Octane and Natalie Storm.
Even though he works on radio, Wizzle says it was tough getting his productions on the airwaves.
“It was challenging at first, being an unknown producer and my projects consisted of mostly young talents, but then the young talents became Billboard acts and it got easier.”
