Police closing in on killer of St Elizabeth farmer
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Police say they are hot on the trail of one of two men allegedly involved in the gun murder of 58-year-old farmer and businessman Lenford Ulett on November 7.
Reports from police and residents in Braes River, about four miles north-east of Santa Cruz, say that at about 4:00 pm Ulett, who resided in neighbouring Goshen, was buying poultry feed at a farm store when two armed men drove up and shot him multiple times.
The vehicle used by the men – a Toyota Fielder – was found the following day close to the gate of the Jamalco alumina plant in Clarendon, the police say.
The owner of the vehicle was briefly held for questioning but was later released, police say.
Reports are that Ulett was originally from Clarendon but took up residence in Goshen sometime ago.
Police investigators have theorized that the murderers were contracted to do the deed.
