Cavalier snap winless run against MBU with 3-0 whipping in JPL

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Defending champions Cavalier SC snapped a three-game winless run against Montego Bay United in the Jamaica Premier League on Monday with a commanding 3-0 win in the first game of a double- header at Stadium East.

Chad James scored a second-half brace for Cavalier SC as they handed the JPL leaders only their loss of the season, snapping a four-game winning run.

Cavalier SC, who moved into fourth place with the win, took the lead in the 34th minute when Jerome McLeary opened the scoring.

James doubled the lead in the 56th minute then added an insurance goal in the 71st minute as Montego Bay United went down to their biggest margin of loss this season.

In the other game, Tivoli Gardens picked up where they left off when the league was forced to break due to hurricane Melissa, beating Waterhouse 2-1 to extend their winning run to three straight.

Nickalia Fuller scored a brace for Tivoli Gardens as they moved ahead of Waterhouse FC into fifth place in the standings.

Fuller gave Tivoli Gardens the lead in the 22nd minute but Revaldo Mitchell who came on as a substitute in the 58th minute, drew Waterhouse level in the 66th minute.

Fuller returned to score the winner in the 72nd minute, securing Tivoli Gardens’ fourth win all season.
