Shahine denies heading Montague’s team
MEMBER of Parliament for North East St Ann Shahine Robinson has denied heading Robert Montague’s campaign team for the chairmanship of the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party.
Montague told the Jamaica Observer Monday night that the St Ann MP was head of his campaign team, which included Councillor John Myers, for Sunday’s internal party elections.
However, Robinson, in a release issued by the party’s secretariat yesterday, said that she was very surprised at
the report.
“I recently went through a gruelling campaign as campaign manager for the leader of the party, Andrew Holness. I am currently not campaign manager for any candidate and I am unable to head any campaign team in this election, and I wish all the candidates well,” the MP said.
Montague, a senator, is being challenged by veteran parliamentarian Derrick Smith for the party’s chairmanship.
