Herbert Morrison’s semi-final hopes on the line
BOGUE, St James — Former champions Herbert Morrison Technical’s semi-final hopes will be on the line today when they take on arch-rivals Cornwall College in a ISSA/KFC Western Conference high school boys basketball double-header at Cornwall College.
Both Herbert Morrison teams have the same record of six points from four games and must win today if they are to stay in contention for places in the semi-finals.
Cornwall College have already qualified for the Under-16 semi-finals along with Spot Valley High School, while they also need to win today to cement their Under-19 place as they complete their schedule.
Meanwhile, at the Montego Bay Cricket Club, St James High, who are still alive in the race for an Under-16 semi-final place, will host Spot Valley in a double-header as well.
On Friday, defending champions Muschett High School completed a perfect first round of the Under-19 section after trouncing hapless Spot Valley High 104-40 in a rescheduled game played at Spot Valley.
It was the first time a team had gone over the 100-point mark this season as Muschett wrapped up the number one spot in the semi-finals that are set to be played in early January.
Spot Valley’s Under-16 unit also stayed perfect, handing defending champions Muschett High their third loss (77-40) to move back into first place with 10 points in the junior section, one point more than Cornwall College and Spot Valley as the latter completed their schedule.
