BT hold MBU goalless at Wespow Park

TUCKER, St James — Montego Bay United are still searching for the first win of the 2014 calendar year after they wasted a number of chances yesterday and were held 0-0 by Boys’ Town in their second-round Red Stripe Premier League game played at Wespow Park in Tucker.
Despite dominating the few scoring chances in the dull game played under sunny skies, the home team had to settle for the second draw in a row and the second draw against Boys’ Town this season after they ended 2-2 in the first-round game at Collie Smith Drive in September.
To add insult to injury, Montego Bay United ended the game with 10 players after striker Kemiro James was sent off in time added by referee Kevin Morrison for kicking an opponent while both were on the ground.
The point saw Montego Bay United inch upwards to 28 points as the gap between them and leaders Harbour View widened, while Boys’ Town moved to 20 points.
It was the visitors’ eighth point in nine away games this season as they are still to beat Montego Bay United in Montego Bay in three seasons.
Scoring goals has become a major task for the Donovan Duckie-coached Montego Bay United as they have scored just four times in their last eight games, including a 1-1 result away to Humble Lion last week.
Yesterday, poor finishing coupled with good goalkeeping from Boys’ Town’s custodian Kirk Porter saw them complete their sixth game without a goal.
Porter made two good saves in the first 30 minutes when the home team looked on the verge of taking the lead. He went high to his left in the eighth minute to turn away a shot from Lesly St Fleur and later in the 32nd minute when he denied the Bahamian international, going low to his left to concede a corner.
The quality of the game got progressively worse, and the second half was marred by repeated stops and starts with neither team managing to get the upper hand.
