Top teams advance in Jackie Bell KO
TOP-TIER teams Tivoli Gardens, Cavalier, Arnett Gardens and Boys’ Town advanced to the next round of the KSAFA/Jamaica Yellow Pages Jackie Bell Knockout football competition following yesterday’s return-round results.
Tivoli Gardens advanced 10-1 on aggregate after drawing 1-1 with Allman/Woodford at Bell Chung Oval. Nicholas Scott gave Tivoli Gardens a 23rd-minute lead before Gary Lewis replied in the 69th minute.
Cavalier blanked New Kingston 2-0 at Stadium East courtesy of goals from Paul Garrick in the 86th minute and Dwayne Holmes in stoppage time, to complete a 5-0 thumping.
At Vauxhall, Arnett Gardens defeated Brown’s Town 2-0, thanks to a brace from Newton Sterling in the 56th and 65th minutes, to complete a 4-1 aggregate win, while at Collie Smith Drive, the hosts Boys’ Town stopped Real Mona 2-0 for a 5-1 win. Asrick Samuels in the 69th minute and Kevin Garnett four minutes from the end, were on target.
The competition continues today with four more games — Barbican will host Constant Spring, August Town travel to Rockfort, Harbour View take on Shortwood at the Compound and UWI tackle Molynes at Molynes.
All games start at 3:00 pm, and the quarter-final round is scheduled for next Wednesday and Thursday.
