Sunshine Girls tri-nation series tour cancelled
Netball Jamaica announced yesterday that the Zeo Tri-Nation Series tour of England by the Sunshine Girls has been cancelled due to injuries to six members of the squad. The six injured players are Jhanielle Fowler, Khadijah Williams, Paula Thompson, Sabrina Spence, Sasha-Gay Lynch and Shanice Beckford.
Netball Jamaica regrets the shortened tour which was being used to sharpen the team ahead of this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The team is scheduled to return to the island today at 4:20 pm on Virgin Atlantic flight 165 at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James. They will then be driven into Kingston to the Netball House.
The girls managed just a solitary victory in a warm up game prior to losing against New Zealand and England, as well as Monday’s game against England A. Their last game against England slated for yesterday was the only affected schedule.
