KINGSTON, Jamaica — For many years, Europe has been a happy hunting ground for Jamaican artistes who get little recognition at home.

CJ Killawno, a singjay from Montego Bay, is one of those acts. Last year, he made strides in parts of Europe and on the home front with the hard-hitting Can’t Get Me Down.

The song, produced by Austrian company Lyrical War, made the Jamaican charts and is the deejay’s most popular production to date.

“Last year was one of my best years ever in music; it was a very fulfilling year. I did a lot of hard work and I got some very positive results,” said CJ Killawno. “Can’t Get Me Down helped push me forward and expand my fan base.”

He is currently pushing Wine for Me, the follow-up to Can’t Get Me Down.

Born in Kingston but raised in the Montego Bay community of Flankers, CJ Killawno is banking on Can’t Get Me Down to provide the momentum his career needs for 2014.

“I expect to make even greater strides in the music business this year. Right now I am working on some new projects with Kill Zone Records and Weed G Records, both of these labels are based in Europe,” he said.

CJ Killawno is scheduled to perform in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands in February and March.
