Jazz & Blues night 2: Protégé, mom keep reggae flag flying
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Roots singjay Protege kept the reggae flag hoisted on night two of the Jazz & Blues Festival underway at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.?
Backed by Indignation Band, Protege who was gracing the local stage for the first time in 11 months, scored with selections such as ‘Who Dem Programme’, ‘My Mommy Say’, ‘Roll With Protégé’ and his flagship hit ‘Kingston be Wise’.
The dreadlocked artiste moved into high gear when he invited his mother, Lorna Bennett — of ‘Breakfast in Bed’ fame — to partner with him on stage to perform ‘They Never Going to Love You JA’.
Bennett, showing she has not lost her groove, threatened to steal the show from her son when she started a deejay piece.?
