Heelz N Wheelz for Ash Wednesday
BILLED the Ultimate Custom Car show, Heelz N Wheelz brings its unique blend of automotive nirvana to enthusiasts at the National Stadium in St Andrew on Ash Wednesday.
Now in its seventh year, the March 5 event is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start. Andrew Lee-Sing, event organiser, explained the tweaks to this year’s staging.
“We’ve learnt from last year’s event and along with suggestions we’ll be making adjustments,” he said.
This year’s staging will see the car show moving from the National Stadium parking lot to the section between the National Arena and the stadium. The ‘recalibration’ was done to protect the display vehicles and accommodate the expected larger crowd.
“The parking lot itself is filled with gravel and we had complaints from owners last year about keeping their cars clean and trying to avoid small paint chips. The inner section is actually paved and that will solve the problem,” Lee-Sing told Auto.
There is also a revamp of the competition categories for a smoother flow.
“We’ve cut down the number of categories and have set a registration deadline so we can finish at 8:00 pm,” Lee-Sing said.
According to the organiser, the show will feature its usual range of display rides from the various car clubs across the island as well as some unique machines.
“Heelz N Wheelz caters to the high-end market when it comes to show cars and this year will be no different. We have some automobiles that haven’t been seen anywhere else,” he said.
There will also be multiple entertainment options for children with a Kids Zone, and a stage show later in the night headlined by Alkaline and Kalado.
“Patrons will have music through the day and a vendors row where they can browse or purchase products for their vehicles,” added Lee-Sing.
