Sav Elite Titans seek to extend lead in WBA Men’s Basketball
WHITHORN, Westmoreland — Sav Elite Titans will be hoping they can extend their perfect winning record in the National Supplies Western Basketball Association’s Men’s Basketball Championships to four straight when they host Lightning Blitz in the second game of a double header in Whithorn on Sunday.
Titans are coming off a 47-31 win over the winless Montego Bay Community College Gladiators last week but faces a Lightning Blitz team that have won both games played so far, and will give the home team all they can handle.
After losing their first game of the season, Avalanche will take on Spartans in the first game on Sunday.
Meanwhile, on Saturday two more games will be played at the Montego Bay Boys Club- Granville Wolfpack will meet UWI in the first game at 5:00pm followed by Boys Club Warriors and Gladiators.
Last weekend, Titans won their third game, cruising past Gladiators by 16 points, as Evern Mills scored a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners.
Titans led 16-6, 32-8 and 39-19 at the intervals as Robert Swaby supported Mills with 11 points, while Nicholas Daye scored 10 points for Gladiators.
After winning their first two games, Avalanche were beaten 38-26 by Cornwall Courts Chargers despite a game high 12 points from Shane Mitchell.
Avalanche led a low scoring first half 8-5 and 15-12, before Cornwall Courts stepped up their tempo in the second half, opening up a 10 points lead 28-18, at the end of the third quarter.
Omar Biggs led Cornwall Courts with 10 points, Claude Johnson scored eight, while Alex Campbell and Cymar Jewery scored six each.
William Knibb Thunder beat Holland Saints 42-35 as Alwayne Smith and Shavaughn Reid combined for 27 points, while Muschett Falcons edged Boys Club Warriors
