DEVAUGHN Baker, who anchored the record-breaking Jamaica College 4x100m team, was recognised by the organisers of the 120th Penn Relays carnival as the High School Boys’ Athlete for Relay Events on Saturday at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

Baker teamed up with Waseem Williams, Tyler Mason and Kenel Patterson to win the Championships of Americas high school boys 4x100m relay in 39.72 seconds beating the old 39.78 seconds set by Wolmer’s Boys in 2010.

He also ran on the Jamaica College 4x100m team clocking 46.81 seconds in the heats on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Edwin Allen High’s girls’ 4x400m team and the Jamaica College team were recognised by Team Jamaica Bickle as the outstanding teams at the three-day event.

Monique Spencer, who ran on both winning Edwin Allen teams, was named the Most Outstanding Female, while Wolmer’s Boys’ Jaheel Hyde, who won the 400m hurdles, was named the Most Outstanding Male.

The Edwin Allen team won the Mile Relay in the second fastest time ever in 3:34.76 minutes.

Calabar High’s Michael O’Hara was also recognised for his 45.74 seconds split on the anchor leg of the high school boys 4x400m where his team was third behind St Jago High and St Elizabeth Technical.

There was also honourable mention to Calabar’s Rajay Hamilton, who ran 1: 51.11 minutes on the winning 4x800m relay team.
