Glitz, Glam & Style
With Mercedes Benz in the driver’s seat, the Saint International brand’s bulb burned brightly in fluorescent azul on Thursday night at the Silver Star Motors and Benz showroom on South Camp Road. Acting as the launchpad for Saint’s annual StyleWeek celebration, the invitation-only ‘strut-off event’ previewed the 2015 Spring/Summer collections of Elan by Heather Laine, Avant-Garde Designer of the Year Tasha Gordon, and the luxe designer retail threads of MaxBrown boutique. SO invites you front-row for our fashionable recap for Saint’s Glitz, Glam & Style.
RUNWAY
Elan by Heather Laine
Zoe Summers made a rare public appearance on the first night of StyleWeek Jamaica as she sent down the runway a vision of black and white that was so focused it subsumed the world around it. Accessorised with chic sculptural headband-style chapeaux from Cinderella Hats, the Elan by Heather Laine glamazon indulged in a world of mystery and seduction decked out in easy, one-piece gowns and day dresses, fashioned from spandex, linens and premium cottons.
MaxBrown
Sophia MaxBrown’s take on menswear remains in the tailored territory of the bravado-laced labels representative of American sportswear (think: Calvin Klein and Michael Kors) and Italian bourgeois (pensare: Giorgio Sanetti and Maceoo). And it is within this hybridic silhouette that the controlled swagger of the night’s male models exuded, capped with newsie-inspired crown-toppers from Cinderella Hats.
T&T Fashion
With the late fashion visionaire Alexander McQueen serving as remote mentor, Saint International Avant-Garde Designer of The Year and T& T Fashion frontwoman Simone ‘Tasha’ Gordon presented a 22-piece collection on Thursday night that put the glitz in the Styleweek Jamaica show’s titular message. Models shone in jewelled tones iridescent in nature and intent, what with showers of sequins and beadwork, foiled by seductive sheer screens.
